Ralph Lauren Outfits Olympians in White Selvedge Jeans

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Ralph Lauren, the quintessentially American heritage brand, is once again dressing Team USA for the Olympics. For the Rio Games’ Opening Ceremony on Aug. 5, the brand is bringing denim to the arena, outfitting Team USA’s flag bearers in white selvedge jeans.

The jeans are part of a red, white and blue-themed uniform that will also include a navy blazer with an embroidered Polo Pony, a striped t-shirt and boat shoes. Ralph Lauren is also introducing a Flag Bearer Jacket with electroluminescent panels, the technology for which was designed in Silicon Valley.

In a statement, David Lauren, executive vice president, global advertising, marketing and communications, said, “Ralph Lauren is incredibly proud to dress America’s best and brightest athletes at the world’s premier sporting event.”
