Saks Fifth Avenue Opens Men’s Store

Saks Fifth Avenue announced the completion of the retailer’s latest New York City store, Saks Downtown Men’s on Thursday.

The exclusively for menswear-store offers 16,000 square feet of merchandise in the relatively newly built Brookfield Place in lower Manhattan—the same location as the retailer’s women’s store. The store, dedicated to men’s goods, sells everything from shoes to clothing, and even offers exclusive brand capsule collections in specifically for the store’s opening.

“Our Downtown New York men’s store will be the first of its kind, fusing the in-store and digital experiences to create an all-channel store geared to the lifestyle needs of the downtown man and the way he shops,” said Marc Metrick, Saks Fifth Avenue president. “With this opening, we are cementing Saks as the destination for men.”

The location also offers bespoke services, and a VIP-style Fifth Avenue Club, which features three private rooms with stylists and interactive mirrored screens allowing shoppers to see their own made-to-measure clothing. The bespoke aspect comes into play by allowing customers to choose fabrics, linings, buttons, embroidery and more. Shoppers can even create labels with their name and the name of the collaborator—a program that premiers at the Men’s location before spreading to the other stores.

“Saks knows fashion, and our customers look to us to discover must-have trends and brands,” said Tracy Margolies, Saks Fifth Avenue chief merchant. “Saks Downtown Men’s carries more than 100 brands, including a dominant assortment in designer footwear. This distinct Saks edit, paired with our exceptional service and bespoke offerings solidifies Saks as the downtown shopping destination.”
