Amsterdam-based Scotch & Soda has a new footwear partner closer to home.
The brand inked a worldwide licensing deal with Bos Group International for the design, production and distribution of footwear collections for men, women and kids.
A family-owned business that is also based in the Netherlands, Bos Group International is taking over the Scotch & Soda footwear licensing operations following the termination of the trademark license agreement with HS Footwear GmbH (part of Germany-based Hamm Group), the brand’s previous licensing partner since 2018.
Bos will execute the wholesale deliveries for Scotch & Soda’s Spring/Summer 2023 collections and will carry on the development and sell-in for Fall/Winter 2023. The licensing company will then develop and distribute Scotch & Soda’s footwear collections for the spring/summer and fall/winter seasons each contract year.
Peter Frericks will become the head of global sales and brand manager for Scotch & Soda at Bos Group Footwear B.V.
Scotch & Soda has a history of working with fellow Dutch brands. In June, it entered a long-term partnership with Netherlands-based Stichd for the design, production and distribution of its underwear and sock collections. The men’s collection will launch in February 2023.
With Bos, the brand gains experience in global markets as well as the opportunity to work alongside its footwear team.
“We are happy to announce our license partnership with Bos Group International,” said Frederick Lukoff, Scotch & Soda CEO. “With their extensive experience in footwear design, production and distribution, they will be a valuable partner in our strategy to strengthen our core markets, all while expanding in new promising regions of the world for the category. We are looking forward to developing a close collaboration with them, tailored to our brand’s values inspired by the free spirit of Amsterdam.”
On average, Scotch & Soda’s seasonal footwear collections are made up of 15 styles for women, 10 for men and five for kids. Shoe styles span leather boots and loafers to color-blocked sneakers and retail for 90 euros to 299 euros (approximately $95-$317.)
Footwear collections are sold at Scotch & Soda’s stores as well as premium fashion and footwear accounts. They are also shipped to over 70 countries via the brand’s website.
Core markets for the category include the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. Australia and South Africa are among the best-performing countries outside of Europe.
“As a Dutch based family company, we are proud to become a member of the Scotch & Soda family,” said Ruben Bos, Bos Group International director. “Scotch & Soda is a fantastic brand and will support our national and international growth ambition. We are looking forward to making this a very successful and long term partnership.”
