It’s been an exciting few months for Star Wars fans, as the saga’s ninth and final film premiered Friday. The hype leading up to it spurred a number of celebratory partnerships, including a highly successful collaboration with Levi’s, which consisted of denim jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts and long-sleeved and short-sleeved T-shirts featuring themed graphics and recognizable movie quotes.
And now, the partnership is back with an extra special, limited-edition garment for collectors and fans alike: a Chewbacca trucker jacket.
Demand is sure to be high for the piece, as Levi’s only created 60 of its kind from its Authorized Vintage Line, which uses Made-in-America vintage Levi’s Trucker jackets from the ’80s and ’90s. Using a special embroidery technique and hand work, each piece is uniquely crafted to feature a 3D design of the character inspired by a still from “Star Wars: A New Hope,” an earlier film in the saga.
This isn’t the first time a movie or show has made its way into the fashion world. Pop culture has cropped up in a number of collections, including a “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”-themed line from actor Will Smith and a “Friends” 25th anniversary collection from Ralph Lauren.
The jacket launched on Friday, timed to the anticipated premiere of “Star Wars: The Rise of The Skywalker.” The jacket retails for $498, and is available for purchase on the Levi’s app.
