Tonello is markings its 35th anniversary of producing garment finishing machinery for the denim industry with a limited edition “non-book” to be sold exclusively at Blueprint in Amsterdam, April 15-16.
Described by Tonello as an “emotional object” of inspiration and design, the tribute book titled “From Here to There—Denim in Motion” depicts the behind the scenes of denim production in Italy and throughout the world with graphic portraits of members of the Tonello family, as well as Adriano Goldschmied, Piero Turk, Mariette Hoitink of HTNK, Koizumi Sumio (Edwin Co.), Bart Sights (Levi Strauss & Co.) and Andrew Olah (Olah Inc.).
The books also features detachable illustrated posters that outline the journey of denim from Genoa to the “new world” to a future made up of sustainability, and a story written by Giorgio Falco.
During Blueprint, a special “Golden Card” will come with each book purchased. Shoppers can present the card at Tonello’s booth to receive a free denim apron in Candiani fabric and treated with Tonello NoStone technology. The apron can also be customized at Tonello’s booth. Just 1,000 books will be available.
