Old Navy and Levi’s are among the leaders in fit, according to a recent report by data-driven personalization platform True Fit.
Contrary to the belief that premium guarantees a superior fit, the report found that the two household brands have “the greatest reputation” among consumers looking for the perfect fit.
The platform, which works with brands such as Levi’s, 7 For All Mankind, Joe’s Jeans and others, polled more than 20 million True Fit shoppers around the world and gathered information on fit based on gender, age, geography, apparel item (tops, bottoms, dresses and shoes), and size type (plus, petite, and big and tall).
Denim-centric brands Levi’s, Old Navy, American Eagle, H&M and Gap ranked in the top five spots for best-fitting bottoms. Other denim-first brands Lucky Brand, Madewell, Lee and Wrangler also made the list.
Consumers’ picks for best-fitting women’s bottoms mirrored the top five bottoms list exactly, with Levi’s, Old Navy, American Eagle, H&M and Gap appearing in the same order. Men had a slightly different take. Levi’s, American Eagle, Wrangler, Old Navy and Nike were considered the best-fitting men’s bottoms, with Lee, Tommy Hilfiger and Lucky Brand among the runners-up.
Fit was a particular concern for consumers looking for special sizing. Top denim brands were Levi’s, Lee and Maurices among the women’s plus category; Lee and NYDJ among the women’s petite category; and Wrangler and Lee among the men’s big and tall category.
Age and geography also played a role in fit. American Eagle and H&M topped the charts for best-fitting brands among the 16-to 24-year-olds, while Old Navy and Levi’s nabbed the top spots for 25-54-year-olds.
