Unlucky Penny: Lucky Brand Cancels Orders of One-Cent Jeans

Rivet's 2020 Denim Circularity report takes a deep dive into how the global denim industry is plotting its circular future amidst a worldwide pandemic.

On Tuesday, Lucky Brand Jeans accidentally released an online promotional code intended for their employees and sold jeans, which regularly retail for $100-$130, for just a penny.

The company said in a statement to Bloomberg, “This morning a promotional discount intended for Lucky Brand employees was released publicly.” They added, “While we are appreciative of the response from customers, we are unable to fulfill orders placed using this code.”

Lucky Brand also took to Twitter to explain the glitch and thanked customers for their understanding.

A representative from Lucky Brand told Bloomberg that it is contacting customers who had placed orders with the code and are offering them “a one-time discount for their inconvenience.”
