The Patchwork Denim Pack, which includes the Sk8-Hi, Classic Slip-on and the Authentic, is redone in heavy canvas that mimics denim, navy suede and denim panels and patches.
Mixed media patchwork and sashiko stitching across the vamp and heel counters give the footwear a traditional mended appearance.
“This collection was inspired by the quilting technique that was typically found on clothing as a way to mend and repair garments for longevity,” Angie Dita, Vans head of classic footwear design, said. “With boro patchwork comes beauty out of necessity. We wanted to showcase the sturdy construction with denim and heavy stitching on our heritage footwear models.”
The pack complements other denim styles in Vans’ current collection, including sneakers made with a ’70s-inspired medley of denim uppers. The brand is also offering a full lineup of color blocked denim sneakers for kids and toddlers, with each shoe accented with a pop of red on the outsole.
The Patchwork Denim Pack is available in unisex sizing and retails for $65-$75. The collection is available online and at Vans stores.
