VFiles will open Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week at Lincoln Center with its fourth installment of “VFiles Made Fashion” on Feb. 11, 2015.
The fashion show traditionally spotlights the best young designers in the industry. This year will mark the first time that all aspects of the show’s production—from designers, stylists, hair and makeup to the models walking the runway—have been selected from the VFiles online community.
This season’s winning designers are pop-centric Discount Universe, New York-based Andrea Jiapei Li with her creative fabric techniques, Zurich-based Julia Seemann and her line of simple yet edgy womenswear, and Ximon Lee, the recent winner of the H&M Design Award.
To select the winners, the VFiles editorial team and mentors reviewed each submission based on vision, relevance and saleability. In addition, each winner across categories was judged on his or her ability to inspire and build the VFiles community.
Over the past four seasons, the show has catapulted Hyein Seo, ASSK, Sam MC London and Melitta Baumeister onto tastemakers’ radars. VFiles launched in 2012 by Julie Anne Quay as a means to disrupt the traditional fashion model. The mufti-faceted business connects fashion watchers, designers and retail through its online community.
