Thomas Dislich, the managing director of Vicunha Textil for Europe and Asia, explained that there are two major trends at play: the progression of stretch technology, and fabrics with a vintage and worn look.
The A/W 17-18 line explores the technological side of denim with fibers and yarns that enhance the fabrics’ capabilities. The Dryarn denim, which is dermatologically tested, repels humidity and dries quickly. Similarly, the Expanded Emana System is designed for the consumer on-the-go and is made with the smart yarn that absorbs human body heat and emanates the rays back to the skin. The fabrication offers thermo-regulation and improves blood micro-circulation. Finally, the line offers a super stretch fabric with reshaping qualities.
In terms of color and treatments, Vicunha focuses on a variety of black shades, ranging from indigo to midnight blue-black and a shimmering retro blue from the 1990s. The mill is also showing vintage fabrics that resemble worn heirloom pieces but also demonstrate modern comfort and performance.
