Brazil-based denim mill Vicunha Texti is pushing the capacities of its plant in Argentina to the max. The mill announced a new goal to increase production by 50 percent to 800,000 meters of denim per month in order to reach a production level of 1.5 million meters per month in 2016.
The cost of the expansion, along with the necessary steps to modernize the plant, is expected to reach an estimated $33.6 million. The company plans to add 180 jobs to the 285 employees it currently employs at the Argentine plant.
This is the plant’s second expansion, an indicator, Vicunha noted, of its increasing recognition in South America’s growing denim industry. In a statement, the company said, “Increasing exports and production volume speak for themselves.”
