Visual Storytellers: Kelly Harrington

Who and what you follow on Instagram is as revealing as what’s on your bookshelf or on your playlist. The social media platform has become an on-the-go resource to find untapped talent, new labels and innovations that have yet to hit the store floor.

In the first of a four-part series, Rivet spoke with Kelly Harrington, trend forecaster and denim aficionado, about her favorite Instagram accounts to follow and the other unlikely places she finds denim inspiration.

“I follow a lot of Japanese and Korean brands as I love the way they style their denim. I love finding unique new brands that push denim boundaries. To me denim is not just a pair of jeans,” Harrington said.

“Outside of social media I find inspiration in old movies, street style photography and most of all vintage. I’m a huge collector of vintage clothing as I love clothes that tell a story and have sentimental value. I love to travel and seek out new places. I explore flea markets and thrift shops around the world to collect one-off vintage finds. My favorite flea market is the Rose Bowl in LA, it’s a treasure trove of inspirational finds.”

Here’s a look at some of Harrington’s favorite accounts to follow.
