WME/IMG Acquires Made Fashion Week

Made Fashion Week is joining the WME/IMG fold. On Monday, WME/IMG confirmed the acquisition of Made Fashion Week, which launched September 2009 as a platform to support up-and-coming designers.

Made Fashion Week will continue to operate as a separate entity and will strategically align with WME/IMG to provide additional opportunities and resources for both group’s designers and partners. Its management team will continue to oversee  day-to-day operations and consult on WME/IMG’s broader strategy.

IMG fashion events and properties SVP and managing director Catherine Bennett said, “As we reimagine New York Fashion Week with new venues, experiences and platforms for the industry, we are excited to add Made Fashion Week to our portfolio. This acquisition creates new opportunities for all our designers and partners to grow and evolve their businesses not only during fashion week in New York, but globally throughout the year.”

As part of WME/IMG, Made Fashion Week founder Keith Baptista said Made will “expand its reach and remain on the front lines of fostering new talent and encouraging bold new voices.”

Made Fashion Week hosts about 30 runway shows and presentations each season from designers including Altuzarra, Proenza Schouler, Jeremy Scott and Alexander Wang.

The New York Fashion Week and Made Fashion Week Spring ’16 collections will take place Sept. 10-17, 2015.
