Wrangler Rustles Up Collabs and NFTs

Wrangler made two major collaboration reveals this week.

The Kontoor Brands-owned brand, which is currently celebrating its 75th birthday with several special collaborations, released its new men’s and women’s collection created with soul singer and songwriter Leon Bridges.

The 29-piece Leon Bridges x Wrangler capsule consists of denim jackets, jeans, shirts, a skirt and a vest. Its non-denim items include graphic tees and printed woven Western shirts. Prices range from $60 for the tees to $159 for jackets and sizes run XS-XL.

Highlights include a back-embroidered “Mr. Wrangler” denim jacket along with jeans, jackets and a skirt in an allover laser print. Design details include an embroidered sleeve monogram, “LB” printed pocketing, matte gold finished hardware and logoed snaps and rivets.

Bridges creative directed the capsule while on tour and was inspired by Wrangler archival items and his own style.

“Wrangler will always mean something to me. My music journey began while wearing vintage Wrangler, so I am excited to be able to collaborate with them on this exclusive collection,” he said. “Working with the brand’s design team in Greensboro, N.C., I was able to walk through the brand’s archives and select original silhouettes. Our meetings continued in my hometown of Ft. Worth, Texas, where we chose trims and final patterns and I was able to give feedback on the early garment prototypes. It was an amazing experience for me to play such an active role in the creative process from start to finish. Telling the story of my authentic ties and heartfelt passion for Wrangler, this collection is meant to nurture individuality and spontaneity for the trailblazers of today.”

The Grammy Award winner is also the face of the Wrangler men’s global product line for Fall 2022.

The collaboration was previewed at New York Fashion Week earlier this month at a private performance by Bridges. The brand also unveiled its Legendary-Tier NFT that was auctioned online following the spring release of Icon-Tier NFTs featuring Bridges’ dance moves. The winning bidder received one of two custom denim suits and proof of ownership of the one-of-a-kind NFT which lives on LTD.INC’s blockchain platform.

Wrangler x Deadfellaz

Wrangler named the 20 winners of vintage limited-edition Wrangler jeans, the first of several upcoming releases with Deadfellaz, a Web3 media company and popular zombie-themed NFT collection.

Together with LTD.INC, Wrangler and Deadfellaz created an interactive storyline designed to let Deadfellaz fans (known as “The Horde”) determine the outcome of a digital comic strip drawn by conceptual artist Leon Lee. The completed comic was revealed on Monday and the engagement story winners–who entered the contest to win the 20 physical-meets-digital prizes by interacting with Wrangler on Twitter–were announced on Wednesday.

Their vintage Wranglers feature Deadfellaz artwork and are embedded with an NFC (Near-Field Communication) chip that, when scanned using LTD.INC’s proprietary app, provides proof of ownership on the blockchain as well as access to exclusive digital content and communities.

Wrangler said the promotion was only phase one of its collaboration with Deadfellaz and that more apparel and joint initiatives will be announced soon.
