Zalando Expands Logistics Network in Continental Europe

European online retailer Zalando announced the addition of two new service centers in order to expand its logistics network in two key regions.

The company is planning to open a satellite warehouse near Paris that will help service customers in the city faster and allow packages to be shipped quicker. The warehouse is expected to be up and running by next year.

The second new logistics building will be a new international fulfillment center in Gryfino, Poland. The center will occupy approximately 130,000-square-meters and employ around 1,000 people when complete. It will supply all of Zalando’s 15 markets with a special attention to customers in surrounding Poland, Germany and the Nordic countries.

“Every month we deliver several millions of packages to our customers in 15 European countries. Throughout the last year Zalando gained more than 3 million new customers,” said Senior Vice President of Zalando David Schroeder in a press release. “We need strong operations and have to be internationally well positioned in order to meet the local needs of our growing customer base,” he added.
