The Best Celebrity Denim Style This Fall

Celebrities are swapping out their skinny jeans this fall in favor of oversized silhouettes, retro washes and jeans that smack of downtown cool.

Songstress Rita Ora recently rocked double denim on a luxury level. Ora donned an oversized light blue jean shirt—styled effortlessly off the shoulder—and matching boot-cut jeans from Virgil Abloh’s first collection for Louis Vuitton.

Light washes and ’90s silhouettes are proving to be a celebrity-worthy match. Ellie Goulding was spotted wearing Alexander Wang’s high-rise straight leg “Cult” logo embroidered jean in authentic bleach wash. Kourtney Kardashian styled relaxed fit bleached jeans with back-to-basics layered tees. Halsey achieved ’90s vibes with destroyed light wash jeans, a vintage tee, hoop hearings, a New York Yankee baseball cap and a powder pink quilted Chanel bowling bag.

Models Kendall Jenner and Kaia Gerber nailed the look of ’90s straight leg jeans with orange peel effects, pairing the jeans with basic tees and statement jackets. Jeans with ripped knees, slick boots and dark shades were the off-duty looks of choice for models Alessandra Ambrosio and Chrissy Teigen. Nicole Kidman and Olivia Palermo perfected the blazer and denim look with sharp, ankle-grazing jeans.

Paris Jackson and Kerry Washington experimented with dark wash flare jeans. Katy Perry summed up 1980s nostalgia with head-to-toe Alberta Ferretti, wearing the designer’s high-waisted studded jeans and matching denim moto jacket in New York City.

Michelle Obama appeared to be embracing life as a private citizen with laidback denim ensembles. The former first lady kicked off her book tour promoting her memoir “Becoming” wearing a tailored denim suit by Akris. said the blue jacket and cropped trouser combination with contrast stitching “made for an arresting visual, particularly paired with silvery heels, and struck just the right balance between polished and casual.”

And skinny still rules the royal wardrobes of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Both wore black skinny jeans and tailored tops to official engagements.
