
On Feb. 6, two earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 7.6 struck the Kahramanmaraş area in the southeastern part of Turkey that borders Syria. Following the two major seismic events, there have been more than 2,000 aftershocks.
Over 200,000 search and rescue workers have located more than 80,000 survivors amid the rubble over the past week. However, the death toll in Turkey and Syria has surpassed a combined 35,000 and it continues to rise. In addition, almost 20,000 individuals are hospitalized in Turkey.
