The best way for the denim industry to move forward after two years of unprecedented challenges is to come together and “determine our path for the future,” said Serhat Karaduman, Calik Denim CEO.
The series, which launched in 2018, brings together leaders from the fashion world with influential figures from a variety of global disciplines and sectors to share their “pioneering experiences and contrasting views about the future.”
“The fashion business landscape is ever evolving. The only constant is change,” Karaduman said. “On this fast-tracked commercial superhighway, we need a moment of space and calm—a moment to reconnect, rethink and reboot. Ever Evolving Talks by Calik Denim is one such moment.”
This year’s event will center on how sectors outside of denim and fashion are navigating many of the same challenges and opportunities including new consumer behaviors, sustainability, the metaverse and more. “Listening to the developments, success stories and journeys of these different [specialists] in their daily life enables us to bring a brand-new perspective to our field of expertise, and to take a breakthrough step by perhaps noticing things we have never noticed before,” Karaduman said.
Speakers include entrepreneur and brand guru BJ Cunningham; Jide Osifeso, the creative director of Hyme and senior director of marketing for Reebok; Gerd Leonhard, CEO of The Futures Agency, Dio Kurazawa, a Copenhagen Fashion Summit adviser and co-founder of The Bear Scounts; and PwC’s head of metaverse technologies Jeremy Dalton, who will breakdown what the metaverse is and how it will be experienced by consumers.
Closer to home, Maxine Bedat, director of the New Standard Institute, will give a keynote on what a sustainable future looks like and the facts and path to secure the future of humanity.
Conversations will underscore the link between evolving and surviving. “Even though there are unexpected developments in our lives like the pandemic, life continues with innovations,” Karaduman said.
Ever Evolving talks, he added, serves as a platform to guide and inspire positive transformation of the industry and “help us to think outside of the box, to take a break from the chaos and hustle of daily life, to understand what is going on and to determine how we can [be] better.”
