5 Denim Hotspots in Amsterdam

The canal-lined paths and bustling high streets of Amsterdam run deep with denim newcomers and innovators. From shops with in-store repair and cleaning, to meticulously curated denim emporiums, here’s a look at five denim stores that help Amsterdam maintain its reputation as an indigo hub.

Nudie Jeans

With sustainability and enduring style at the forefront of its designs, Nudie Jeans was a welcomed addition to the Dutch city when it opened its first Amsterdam store in 2017. Located in the famous 9 Streets micro-neighborhood, the store offers Nudie’s complete range of organic cotton men’s denim, as well as vintage styles and free repair services for Nudie brand jeans.

Tenue de Nîmes

This denim-inspired boutique founded by Menno van Meurs also lives in the denim-friendly 9 Streets. The store offers a mix of brands that speak to denim’s traditions and modernity, including Agolde, Levis Made & Crafted, Japan Blue and its own house label. Customers are encouraged to linger in the store, enjoy an espresso or sip a glass of wine while they shop. Additionally, Tenue de Nîmes offers seven-days-a-week delivery service and private shopping opportunities.

G-Star Raw

G-Star Raw’s three-story, industrial-themed flagship is the place to go for an immersive G-Star experience. The store houses the Amsterdam-based brand’s entire men’s, women’s, children’s and accessories lines, as well is the place to nab special collections such the Pharrell Williams x G-Star Elwood X25 collection.

Scotch & Soda

The Amsterdam-based chain has several stores in the city, including an elegant flagship that stocks its entire men’s, women’s, denim and fragrance collections. However, The Blauw Kitchen, Scotch & Soda’s denim-only concept store, is a standout for denim heads. Located in Amsterdam’s hipster nabe De Pijp, the store hosts local artisans and in-store events that allow customers to experiment with indigo dyeing techniques.

Denham the Jeanmaker

Fans of Denham the Jeanmaker have plenty of ways to shop the premium label’s products. Concentrated in the 9 Streets, the Amsterdam-based brand has five stores, including men’s and women’s “Denim Bars.” The women’s store is outfitted with playful fairytale-themed fitting rooms complete with 300-degree mirrors, while the men’s store serves up alterations and laundry.
