Berto Brings Handloom Denim to New York City

Italian mill Berto set up shop just blocks from Little Italy in New York City on Wednesday at premium denim atelier, 3×1, to launch its first ever collection of handloom fabrics under the Le Mani Label. The fabric is the finest handloom denim in the world.

To celebrate the launch of Le Mani, and to showcase the handwoven process, Berto shipped a handloom from Italy to the store. Only three yards of the 100 percent cotton denim can be created each day. The super soft denim, which Berto Marketing Manager Arianna Morimando noted is perfect for suiting, is available in two shades, a dark indigo and a medium indigo.

The loom will be in the store until Nov. 16. 3×1 shoppers have the unique opportunity to order a custom or bespoke garment made with the rare denim. Due to the exclusivity of the fabric, a limited number of pairs will be available.

At time of publication, Morimando reported that at least 20 pairs of trousers have been order. Prices range from $1525 for custom to $2200 for bespoke.
