Menswear brand Joseph Abboud opened its New York flagship store Friday. The 4,300-square-foot store located on Madison Avenue is the first under the umbrella of Men’s Wearhouse Inc., which acquired the company in 2013 and re-launched the brand in 2014.
“It’s our commitment to dress men in the finest quality designer menswear in America so it was only natural to support the Joseph Abboud brand with its own retail store and expand that product offering,” Men’s Wearhouse CEO Doug Ewert said.
Inspired by the shops on London’s Saville Row, the store offers the complete range of Joseph Abboud’s designer collections, spanning sportswear, outerwear, dress and tailored furnishings, footwear and the brand’s new eponymous fragrance in an opulent setting.
The store features a 15-foot ivory Venetian plaster vaulted ceiling lit with brass and hand blown glass chandeliers. A mixture of vintage, classic and modern decorative pieces including hand-drawn charcoal fashion illustrations by artist Bill Rancitelli and upholstered chairs in the designer’s own gray chalk-stripe fabric, fill out the space.
An iron staircase leads up to the Joseph Abboud Custom clothing experience, where customers can select from over 250 of the Italian fabrics to create custom pieces. A custom specialist will help customers choose from options including suit silhouette, fabric, lining, pick stitching and button holes. Items start at $795 for suits and tuxedos.
