Uniqlo to Enter the Canadian Market in 2016

Uniqlo will arrive in Canada, its 18th global market, in 2016. The Japanese retailer, a division of Fast Retailing Co. announced Monday that it will open two full-range stores in Toronto’s Eaton Centre and Yorkdale Shopping Centre.

The stores will carry a comprehensive selection of premium denim, Supima cotton T-shirts, polos, fleeces, as well as Uniqlo’s proprietary collections, including AIRism, HEATTECH, and Ultra-Light Down.

The nearly 24,000-square-foot Yorkdale store, slated to open in fall 2016, will be housed in the center’s 300,000-square-foot expansion wing. The Yorkdale Shopping Centre has become a go-to destination for international brands to break into the Canadian market. Nearly 20 international labels, including AllSaints, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade New York, Mulberry and Tory Burch have opened their first Canadian locations in the shopping complex.

The 28,000-square-foot store in Eaton Centre will also open in the fall of 2016.

Uniqlo USA and Canada CEO Larry Meyer said, “Uniqlo operates in some of the world’s most important cities and markets, with Toronto marking an exciting new destination for our brand. We embrace this milestone as an important step in the growth of our brand, and look forward to providing Canadians with an opportunity to experience our unique mix of quality designs.”
