Flea markets and thrift shops may be closed in most parts of the world but vintage fashion lovers can still experience the thrill of a find through Asos Marketplace’s new collection.
The online retailer launched Friday The Rare Edit, a limited curated collection of rare designer vintage pieces sold by reputable vintage boutiques. Every piece has been hand-picked and the small selection of boutiques included in the campaign have sourced their pieces both home and abroad to ensure the highest quality product for the edit.
The campaign is one part of Asos Marketplace’s efforts to support independent retailers and boutiques during this health and economic crisis. The marketplace, which has become a leading online platform for independent brands and vintage boutiques since launching in 2010, has waived the approximately $25 monthly fee its network of 800-plus retailers would typically pay to host product on the site.
“It’s a small amount off their monthly costs, but we know that can make a big difference for a small business,” Asos Marketplace stated. “Some of our boutiques have even decided to give the money they’re saving to charity.”
The Rare Edit features labels such as Fendi, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Celine, and more can be found alongside rare vintage sportswear from the likes of Tommy Hilfiger and Champion.
Denim highlights include a rare Valentino denim workman jacket, Versace logo jeans and high-waisted Fendi logo jeans, all from the nineties. A Gaultier Junior corset denim jacket and a Tony Alamo Hawaii-themed rhinestone denim jacket are among the standout statement pieces.
Unique, one-off designs are expected to sell out fast.
