Kingpins Show revealed Wednesday that it has set dates for its return to in-person events.
The denim supply chain show will take place in Amsterdam on April 20-21 and Oct. 19-20 at SugarCity, a new venue that Kingpins intended to use in April 2020 after growing out of its Westergasfabriek location.
The last Kingpins Amsterdam took place October 2019. Events in Amsterdam, New York and China have since been canceled due to the pandemic.
Preparations for April are taking place and will continue “unless the Dutch government blocks public gatherings,” organizers stated in a newsletter. Masks and testing, however, will likely be required.
The global denim industry is hopeful about in-person events this spring. Bluezone in Munich is planning to host a denim event focused on innovation May 3-4. Denim Première Vision’s next event will take place in Berlin, May 17-18 at Arena Berlin.
With the move to SugarCity, Kingpins Amsterdam’s footprint will grow more than 40 percent to 100,000-square-feet. The additional space will give organizers the flexibility to add new features to the show and evolve some of the event’s key areas to better serve exhibitors and attendees, not to mention allow for social distancing.
“At this point, our attitude is that new virus ‘brands’ are not going to stop coming at us. Those of us who need to be inspired need to get out of our little bubbles,” the organizers stated.
