New York Denim Days Adds More Kid-Friendly Events

The close-knit denim community will come together again June 8-9 for New York Denim Days, the two-day festival that puts consumers, brands and the denim supply chain under one blue roof.

The ticketed event, which will return to the Metropolitan Pavilion in Chelsea, will feature a diverse mix of activations, brands and collaborations, including a children’s runway show hosted by first-time exhibitor, OshKosh B’gosh.

“Our favorite outfits start with denim, which is why we are thrilled to be part of the Denim Days Festival 2019,” said Zia Taylor, vice president of OshKosh B’gosh design. “From the World’s Best Overalls to the Best Jeans Ever, we’ve got a fit and style for every OshKosh B’gosh kid.”

And for a second year, Tencel branded fibers by Lenzing is the event’s title sponsor. Last year, the fiber company created a “Tencel forest” in the entry to showcased how its Tencel fibers are derived from sustainably harvested trees.

“We have developed some creative ways of displaying our theme, ‘Denim From the Ground Up,’ for this edition of New York Denim Days with an interactive display and several places for great photo-ops,” said Tricia Carey, Lenzing’s director of global business development for denim.

“Together with our brand partners 3×1, Athleta, Garbage by Marta Goldschmied and Triarchy, we will build the World of Tencel Denim with styles to suit every consumer lifestyle,” she added.

In addition to unique shopping opportunities, attendees can take part in a “Denim Talks” speaker series presented by Advance Denim and tour a rare sneaker exhibit curated by @Just4kicksdaily. Artist Anna Weber, Moon Heemin and Shya Beth, known as The Denim Rider, will also exhibit denim artwork.

The final day of the festival will include a morning yoga session with Athleta, a vintage denim market and a design contest and catwalk for students from the High School of Fashion Industries.
