Skinny jeans may have more competition this year, but the slinky silhouette embellished with crystals, glitter and metallic fringe remains an essential part of the New Year’s Eve denim wardrobe.
And nabbing embellished denim is easier than ever this season as ’90s-era bling begins to shimmy its way back into style for 2019.
J Brand updated its popular Alana high-rise cropped skinny jean in a deep black colorway with an ascending cascade of of clear crystals. A smattering of white crystals covers the front of Paige’s slimmest fitting jean, the Verdugo. The brand offered the embellished jean in both black and dark indigo. Meanwhile, Express offered a high-low look with distressed high-rise black jeans accented with icy crystals.
The fringe trend breaks from its bohemian roots for New Year’s Eve. 7 For All Mankind opted for black beaded fringe to trim the length of its skinny black jeans. Helmut Lang adopted the rock star look, too, with an oversized jean jacket swathed with gold beaded fringe.
Jeans with side stripes also got a glam update by brands like Mother and Levi’s. Mother added glittery pink and red stripes to cropped kick flare jeans, while Levi’s rolled out silvery crystal side stripes on 501 jeans, denim skirts and jean jackets. AG Jeans, Acne Studios and Nanopo reinforced the disco ball look with jeans and denim jackets with all-over silver coatings and sequins.
