Celebrities are embracing new denim fits just like the rest of us.
Putting a new spin on ’90s grunge, Rhianna showed off baby belly No. 2 in a cropped rugby shirt and slouchy jeans. Beau A$AP Rocky mirrored the Super Bowl headliner’s style with faded jeans, a flannel shirt and Bottega Veneta’s padded green gilet. Jeans and denim jackets are staples of the “Umbrella” singer’s pregnancy wardrobe.
Hailey Bieber channeled normcore 2.0, wearing relaxed blue jeans with a leather bomber jacket. She stepped out in another version of the back-to-basics look during an outing with husband Justin Bieber, who paired baggy Drewhouse jeans with a tweed vest and pink beanie.
Wide-leg jeans are a new staple in celeb closets. Katy Perry styled faded wide-leg jeans with a yellow leather Bikercore jacket. Black ripped jeans were part of Shakira’s relaxed airport look when she touched down in New York. Gabrielle Union and Olivia Wilde styled wide-leg jeans with blazers.
Others experimented with deconstructed denim. Saweetie stepped out in low-rise bell-bottom jeans and a cropped jacket. Frayed seams and hems decorated both pieces. Model Ella Emhoff wore a frayed patchwork denim jacket and midi skirt to Milan Fashion Week. Heidi Klum wore a denim miniskirt pieced together with American flag fabric and embroidered panels. When she’s not stepping out in recycled denim dresses by MPAZ Studio, Julia Fox has been spotted pumping gas clad in Diesel underwear.
Skinny jeans continue to make a fashion statement. Purple skinny jeans were part of model Jourdan Dunn’s monochromatic look in Milan. Megan Thee Stallion recreated the baseball uniform she wore to throw the first pitch at a Houston Astros game dressed in skinny white jeans and a knotted jersey.
Denim is also making a statement on the red carpet.
At the Sundance Film Festival, actress Dakota Johnson donned Magda Butrym’s dark wash denim trench, bustier top and pleated trousers. Actress Michelle Williams sported Self Portrait’s denim short-sleeve top and mini skirt to a pre-Oscars event. The set’s crystal-embellished buttons were a subtle substitute for jewelry.
Singer Bebe Rexha attended the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award in a flare denim jumpsuit covered in light blue crystals, while Kelly Roland paired ripped flare jeans with an orange leather blazer and bra top.
