Warm weather and vaccinations signal the return of celebrity street style. How the famous faces are adjusting to dressing for social occasions is veering in two opposite directions, but both are a boom for the jeanswear business.

Model Irina Shayk’s bold denim choices for running errands around New York City are nabbing headlines and setting new trends. Her black-and-white Mugler “thong” jeans—a denim and Lycra concoction—have become a symbol of “Hot Vax Summer” style. And her penchant for mixing decades, like pairing ’90s-style ripped jeans and combat boots with Y2K-era Britney Spears tees and shoulder bags, is a blueprint for vintage-shopping fiends.

Hailey Bieber, Hilary Duff, Ashlee Simpson and Whitney Port co-sign the trend for loose fits and ripped knees as well.

Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski is embracing denim’s new look as well, opting for Gen Z-approved low-rise jeans and Prada’s denim bralette top.

This year’s ‘It’ couples have their own denim language as well. Actress Megan Fox’s loose-fit jeans, bra tops and platform heels balance beau musician Machine Gun Kelly’s tie-dye denim and cut-off tanks. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker, meanwhile, mix the comfort of sweatshirts with edgy cutout jeans that nod to Barker’s punk roots.

Though Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck (a.k.a Bennifer) originally became an item in the early 2000s, their fashion is resolutely from 2021. The reunited couple has stayed true to their personal style, with Affleck often stepping out in slim black jeans and Lopez dressing down in a summery patchwork denim skirt.

Katie Holmes combined loungewear and denim in her off-duty look as well, dressed in a flowy dotted jean jumpsuit, loafers and tee during a walk in NYC.

Celebrities haven’t given up on the comfort of stretch denim. Olivia Palermo ran errands dressed in skinny jeans and a crisp button-down shirt. Stretch jeans, a henley top and beanie were part of David Beckham’s travel wardrobe. To counter the soccer star’s laidback style, Victoria Beckham personified denim’s new back-to-work look dressed in dark flared jeans and a blazer.
