Denim Footwear In Demand for Spring ’16

This spring marked the acceptance of double denim in apparel, but Spring ’16 will bring the denim footwear needed to complete the fashionable head-to-toe blue jean look.

Designers are turning to denim fabrications—mainly light to bright shades of blue—to create an All-American vibe in their summertime collections. The material also serves as a playful alternative to tap into the ongoing Seventies fashion trend without heavy suede and wood.

For Spring ’16, Restricted is toying with pin-up fashion with platform peep-toe sandals done up in spotted denim, complete with retro denim knots across the toe. Rebels keeps it simple with classic slip-on Vans-style sneakers with a light blue chambray upper and a touch of braided jute along the outsole. Joy & Mario also paired chambray with jute in an extensive range of espadrille lace-ups offered in solid and color blocked chambray, and on sportier styles that combine jute with phylon midsoles.

To complement Flogg’s Seventies-inspired collection, Flogg Founder and Creative Director Carol de Leon created added a touch of denim to the straps of a platform sandal on a chunky wood heel. Gold ring hardware and rounded studs adds a glam feel to the throwback style.

For designers that wanted to stick with leather uppers, denim blue was a solid choice across a number of lines, including Pikolinos’ nautical-inspired oxfords, Antelope’s cloud-like baby blue sandals and David Isaac, which used blue leather on weighty cross strap platform sandals.
