The denim sneaker continues to sweep the fashion industry, most recently in the form of a new collaboration between two leading streetwear labels.
Skateboarding apparel brand Supreme and footwear label Vans teamed on two denim versions of classic Vans shoes. The Supreme x Vans Hole Punch Denim Collection includes the Vans Sk8-Hi and the Vans Slip-On updated with the same “hole punch” frayed denim pattern featured in a denim trucker jacket debuted by Supreme earlier this year.
Each shoe is available in both black and blue denim and features white midsoles and Supreme and Vans branding on the back. The Sk8-Hi version includes dark suede accents along the front and back panels, as well as white leather stripes along the sides.
The Supreme x Vans Hole Punch Denim Collection is now available on the Supreme website and in Supreme stores, and will be available in Supreme Japan on July 11.
Designers and streetwear labels across the board have tried their hand at the popular denim shoe, which blends the boundaries of fashion for a look that’s both edgy and casual. Everyone from Coach to Converse to Louis Vuitton has produced a denim shoe, appealing to a variety of different style preferences.
Trend consultants have touted denim as a “blank canvas” that lends itself well to customization and sustainable innovation. Converse is just one footwear label using upcycled denim as the foundation for new styles of shoes.
