Julia Fox

Deep Dive

Thanks to Julia Fox and then-boyfriend Ye, 2022 kicked off with double-denim on the minds and lips of fashion watchers around the world when the duo stepped out at Men’s Paris Fashion Week dressed in Canadian tuxedos. Fox’s pairing of Schiaparelli’s cone-bra denim jacket and slouchy Carhartt jeans from Schiaparelli creative director Daniel Roseberry’s own closet drove searches for “double-denim” up 31 percent week-on-week following the public display, according to Lyst. Searches for baggy low-rise jeans spiked 74 percent.

Since then, the “Uncut Gems” actress has become the unofficial ambassador of the denim industry’s new trend cycle, sporting low-rise jeans, jackets and bags from Diesel’s Spring 2022 collection (she starred in brand’s 2020 campaign) and posing in underwear and denim boots on the top of a New York City taxi for Alexander Wang. Fox wear-tested the bold look earlier this year when she wore bra, panties and Wang’s oversize denim blazer grocery shopping.

Fox flexed her DIY chops on social media this year as well when she shared with her 1.2 million Instagram followers a video tutorial on how to achieve her risqué upcycled denim bandeau top and ultra-low-rise jeans. In the post’s caption, Fox noted her obsession with the material, stating, “now that latex is kinda played out, denim, you’re all I have left.”
