Asics, title sponsor of the LA Marathon, announced their schedule of special events to celebrate the 30th edition of the race.
The main event will be a marathon course lighting activation of 124 spotlights, marking every mile along the course, which stretches from Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica. This is the largest activation to date, and it will take place on Friday, March 13. The marathon is on March 15.
Leading up to the race, Asics will conduct a series across their social media channels, on the history and stories behind the race. They will interview a selection of the 178 Legacy Runners, who have run every LA Marathon, and write a feature on Asics brand ambassadors Ryan and Sara Hall, the famed American running couple.
To commemorate the race’s anniversary, the athletic brand is launching a full line of LA Marathon merchandise, including the LA Marathon 33-DFA shoe for men and women. The shoe’s print is inspired by newsprint and resembles collage snippets highlighting the marathon route destinations.
