Bates Accessories Acquires Custom Brand Footwear

New Hampshire-based handbag and accessories manufacturer Bates Accessories Inc., under the retail trade brand name of Thomas Bates, has purchased Custom Brand Footwear (CBF) for an undisclosed amount.

Custom Brand Footwear, which designs and manufactures traditional hand-sewn leather footwear under the David Spencer brand name for the golf, specialty and outdoor markets, will relocate the CBF office from it Delevan, Wis. to its Greenland, NH location.

“After more than 25 years making leather and fabric accessories and custom products for footwear manufacturers, we are excited to join forces with Custom Brand Footwear,” said Thomas Bates, owner and president of Bates Accessories Inc. “We look forward to combining our expertise and knowledge in leather manufacturing and distribution.”

John Bracewell will continue as the director of sales for CBF accounts, and will report directly to Bates. Claude Trotter, former owner and president of CBF will stay on board in an advisory role. The company’s footwear will continue to be manufactured in Mexico and Dominican Republic.
