Bates Awarded $27M in Military Contracts

Bates, the Wolverine Worldwide-owned protective footwear company, was awarded $27 million in contracts by the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency to product boots for allied forces in Afghanistan.

The contract includes orders for Bates’ Temperate Weather Combat boots in both tan and black. The boots feature Vibram outsoles and Gore-Tex waterproof, breathable technology. The shoes will be produced entirely in the brand’s facility located in Big Rapids, Mich.
