Bernie Mev Launches Campaign to Support Cancer Non-Profits

Bernie Mev, the brand known for its colorful elastic uppers, is teaming up with two cancer support organizations to raise funds with its “Weave the World Together” campaign. Beginning September, the company will donate 100 percent of proceeds from the sale of its Catwalk Braid flat, available in silver/rose gold and pewter/fuchsia, to and Sharsheret. connects cancer patients and caregivers to their community of friends and family through free, personalized websites. Sharsheret is a national non-profit organization supporting young women and their families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer. The campaign was inspired by seventeen year-old Leeron Carmi, daughter of Bernie Mev designer Rachel Carmi and CEO Itamar Carmi.

Leeron Carmi, campaign coordinator, said, “We don’t say this often, but it’s time to take our shoes off and walk in those of others. We recognize the challenges people with cancer are facing on a daily basis and want to help them build stronger foundations to lead happier lives.”

Bernie Mev has sold 2,000 pairs of the Catwalk Braid flat, which retails for $59.95, to US and international retailers, including Zappos, Dillard’s and specialty boutiques for the Fall ’15 season. Each pair of shoes will come with an information card and a matching “Weave the World Together” bracelet.

The brand plans to bring on additional charities each year to correspond with the release of new colors and styles.
