Highlighting the best of Brazil’s leather industry, the Centre of the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) tapped Brazilian footwear designers to create capsule collections using leathers from the country’s traditional tanneries.

Launched by the Design na Pele project, the initiative brings together the CICB and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency to promote Brazil’s leather industry. The collections were presented at FN PLATFORM with the support of the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association (Abicalçados).

In the collection, styles by Patricia Viera for Guilhermina play with lightness, embroidered leathers, laser effects, mosaics and handmade applications.

Ronaldo Fraga, from men’s brand Kildare, focus on a mix of classic constructions, soft canvas looking leathers and bold colors.

In addition to footwear, Design na Pele has called for other industries to become involved. In the third edition, the project includes a collection of furniture created by Brazilian designers and local tanneries.
