Cat Footwear’s iconic Colorado boot took center stage Saturday at the Joyrich Fall ’15 presentation during Made Fashion Week in New York City.
The work boots, in various colors including red, blue, green, orange, white and traditional honey, were paired with key styles from Joyrich’s “Youthquake” collection inspired by the mod styles of the ’60s. The show featured poppy prints and playful preppy plaids, as well as embossed crocodile textures and vibrant furs.
The Colorado boot used in the show has a long history in pop culture. The boot was tied to the ’90s grunge movement in the UK and Europe, when teenagers began to wear the shoe for fashion rather than function. After that, Cat started catering to a fashion consumer by offering men’s and women’s lifestyle collections. The boot has re-emerged as a favorite with the return of ’90s grunge fashion.
Approaching the boot’s 25th anniversary, Cat Footwear has re-released the boot in bright new hues of blue, red, green and orange for men, and new textures for women, including all-white, pony hair and metallics.
