The 4.Zerogrand Hiker, available in men’s and women’s in a variety of colorways, wraps waterproof leather and suede around a sturdy insulated lining to keep feet dry and warm in wintry conditions. The uppers are paired with Cole Haan’s triple-density Grandfoam cushioning system to give the boot the dynamic ride of an athletic shoe. A redesigned full-length tread pattern provides a durable grip in all conditions.
“Sometimes hiking boots can feel like ski boots with how stiff and inflexible they are, but not these 4.Zerogrand Hikers,” Scott Patt, chief creative officer at Cole Haan, said in a statement. “They’re more like sneakers. Our goal was to merge all the weather protection of a standard hiker with super-responsive and dynamic cushioning, so they’re ready for everything.”
“Hiking boots have been a Cole Haan bestseller for years,” David Maddocks, brand president at Cole Haan, said in a statement. “This year our design and innovation teams brought things to the next level, delivering a breakthrough hiker built for the future that provides the ultimate utility for consumers seeking to get outside for some fresh air this winter.”
The footwear brand introduced its 4.Zerogrand collection in September. The new line pays homage to the original Zerogrand wingtip oxford style, but also merges a classic wingtip upper with a newly engineered outsole that provides more flexibility for casual wear.
This year has already seen multiple other new Zerogrand variants. In October, the shoe maker unveiled a collection of limited-edition Generation Zerogrand footwear styles designed with messaging platform Slack. The Cole Haan x Slack Generation Zerogrand collection taps into the Slack color palette and consists of four styles with white uppers and color details in the software’s signature blue, red, lemon and green.
In June, Zerogrand took on the performance running market with the launch of the Zerogrand Overtake and Zerogrand Outpace. Both feature “tuned midsole foam” and a stabilizing, midfoot-supporting heel counter, which offer improved energy return and cushioning while optimizing fit.
The 4.Zerogrand Hiker is available on ColeHaan.com, as well as in U.S. retail locations and select international Cole Haan stores. The shoes are priced at $250, with more colors and patterns set to release in December.
