Cole Haan’s 4.Zerogrand Sneaker Line Brings International Artists Into the Mix

Cole Haan has released the latest iteration of its famous work-to-weekend sneaker.

The New York and New Hampshire-based brand debuted its 4.Zerogrand collection of men’s and women’s active-inspired dress shoes on Wednesday.

While the new line pays homage to the original Zerogrand wingtip oxford style that popularized the line, the 4.Zerogrand merges a classic wingtip upper with a newly engineered outsole that provides more flexibility for casual wear.

The collection is comprised of four silhouettes for men and women, including a wingtip oxford and plain-toe oxford for men, as well as a Flyknit Stitchlite oxford and loafer for women. Triple density foam cushioning provides a plush under-foot feel, which deeper flex grooves in the shoe’s sole allow for dynamic movement. Styles range from $170-$230, and more silhouettes are set to debut throughout the winter and spring seasons.

Cole Haan's 4.Zerogrand men's styles include a wingtip oxford and a plain-toe oxford.

The line’s uppers have been updated with lightweight materials to provide more airflow and a more comfortable, sock-like fit, while the shoe’s outsole is comprised of full-length TPU.

Cole Haan and Zerogrand have set the standard for footwear innovation since July 2014, and the 4.Zerogrand Collection is an evolution of how we continue to write new rules of footwear,”Cole Haan brand president David Maddocks said in a statement. “To celebrate the latest innovation, we’ve collaborated with six extraordinary artists to provide their unique perspective on how we can come together to redefine the rules of work.”

According to Maddocks, the line’s #WriteNewRules project tapped international visual artists to create a collection of bespoke posters. Shantell Martin, SATR, Frank Morrison, Lauren Tsai, Rafaella Vanni and Mike Perry created limited-edition original works that promote hope and optimism.

A number of signed posters will be made available for purchase each week, and the files can also be accessed digitally. The company has also asked shoppers to showcase their artistic chops in a poster competition.

The 4.Zerogrand range is currently available on, and at U.S. retail locations and select stores internationally.
