Converse Heads to SXSW

As Converse launches their new “Made by you” campaign, focused on artistic self-expression, they will return as a sponsor of SXSW 2015 to celebrate the musicians, athletes and artists in attendance.

The sneaker brand will set up a free recording studio, Converse Rubber Tracks, at the festival for the fourth year, offering 20 Texas-based bands the opportunity to record with experienced engineers at no cost from March 9-21. The Rubber Tracks program began as a brick and mortar studio in Brooklyn, New York in 2011 and has since provided 900 artists the opportunity to record there.

Converse will also sponsor Death Match, a music and skateboarding event, with Thrasher Magazine, and Fader Fort, a live music venue.

“We’re always blown away by the caliber of talent walking through the doors of ‘Converse Rubber Tracks’ in Austin,” said Jed Lewis, Converse global marketing music director. “Its exciting to be able to return to such an amazing music community and provide opportunities that are useful to emerging musicians who come to Austin to get their music heard.”
