Converse is taking a unique stab at ’70s-inspired fashion. The brand unveiled limited edition Converse First String Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 Space Collection, a range of sneakers inspired by intergalactic space travel and significant space events that occurred during the 1970’s.
The collection, based on the iconic Converse silhouette originally created in this decade, is offered in two styles. A black and white pair pays homage to astronauts that have traveled to the moon and is designed with 3M reflective elements that represent the exterior of a spacecraft. The sneakers also feature graphics inspired by rocket ships on the upper, a ribbed toecap for durability and a translucent, marbled gray outsole.
Converse says the second pair is inspired by the splash down balloons used to help astronauts re-enter the earth’s atmosphere after a trip to space. The sneakers offer a multi-beige nylon upper with welded print detail, a leather toecap and a translucent marbled blue outsole.
The Converse Chuck Taylor All Star ’70 Space Collection is available now, priced at $120, at Converse retail stores, select retailers and online on the company’s website.
