Crocs has named footwear veteran and apparel industry executive Gregg Ribatt its new chief executive officer. Ribatt will join the company in January, splitting his time at Crocs’ new Global Commercial Center just outside of Boston and its headquarters in Niwot, Colo.
Crocs president Andrew Rees will remain at his post and report to Ribatt, who will also serve on the company’s board of directors.
Ribatt brings 20 years of executive leadership to the footwear brand. Most recently he served as interim CEO of Spanx Inc. Prior to Spanx, he was the president and chief executive officer for Collective Brands Performance and Lifestyle Group, which included popular Keds and Stride Rite labels. Ribatt also spent time at Bennett Footwear Group during its heyday as one of the leading women’s branded and private label footwear companies in the US.
Crocs chairman of the board Thomas J. Smach said, “Gregg brings to Crocs a two-decade track record of success and leadership in guiding companies through significant growth and transformation. We believe the transformation of Crocs will accelerate under his leadership, and we are delighted to welcome him as our new chief executive officer in January.”
Ribatt said, “Crocs is an incredible brand with excellent growth potential. Over the last nine months, the team has done an exceptional job of working to position the brand and company for the future. My goal is to build on that strategic work while continuing to establish one of the best teams and cultures in the industry.”
