Emily Ratajkowski Tries Her Hand at Sneaker Design With Superga Collab

Emily Ratajkowski, like Hailey Bieber and Alexa Chung before her, is taking on the mantle of Superga brand ambassador.

The Italian footwear company revealed the model-turned-bestselling author as the star of its Spring/Summer 2022 advertising campaign Wednesday. A fan of the brand for more than a decade, Ratajkowski collaborated with Superga on a small capsule collection of sneakers and boots.

“Superga is a brand I’ve been wearing during all stages of my life and I am thrilled to be part of this campaign, especially since I’ve never designed my own footwear before,” Ratajkowski said in a statement. “No matter the style of the sneaker, it goes with everything while providing a timeless look and comfort to my outfit every day.”

The collection includes two colorways of Superga’s 2750 sneaker, “a classic shoe that I personally wear often,” the “My Body” author said. The specially designed 2750 “Emrata” differentiates itself from the original with off-white bindings, tubular laces and an exclusive collaboration patch on the shoe’s inside. Ratajkowski also updated the brand’s Alpina hiking boot, again with off-white touches, rounded laces and a patch.

The capsule includes additional styles from the company’s portfolio, including two sustainability-focused entries. The 4089 Training 9TS Slim Vegan is made with recycled nylon, faux suede and leather and recycled rubber. The skate-inspired 2490 Bold Organic Canvas, Natural Dye features an organic cotton upper and a cork insole. The collection also includes the chunky 2631 Stripe Platform and 2790 COTW sneakers. Prices run from $65 to $139.

Brazilian lifestyle brand and past Levi’s collaborator Farm Rio, meanwhile, launched its first shoe collection globally Monday.

Exclusively available in the U.S., the collection features artisanal detailing—embroidery, beads and crochet—and spans sneakers, sandals and mules. The shoes are 100 percent vegan, made in Brazil and come wrapped in a bag created from the brand’s leftover fabric, Farm Rio said. The shoes, which sport a selection of tropical prints and colors, range in price from $145 to $395.
