FN Platform Takeaways: 3 Cool Brands to Watch

When it’s deliver-or-die, supply chains become the lifeblood of a company. To that end, the fashion industry has embraced technology to navigate today’s hyper-complicated supply chain, with myriad solutions shaping the first, middle and last mile. Call it Sourcing 2.0.

Some brands exude comfort or luxury, others have an air of coolness about them. Vamp editors narrowed down three of the coolest brands generating buzz on the FN Platform floor.

Elliott Lucca Gets Edgy with Florals
Elliott Lucca is vying for a more modern look with its updated artisan styles. The brand bowed a moody and lush floral print on black leather bags, pointed toe flats with a slight creeper outsole and Chelsea boots on a sneaker bottom. Elliott Lucca brand leader of handbags and footwear Mark Donatiello said the new design is part of the brand’s efforts to satisfy its core 25- to 45-year-old customer, which has been skewing younger in recent seasons. To complement the floral collection, the brand also launched an embossed neoprene range of handbags, including a versatile backpack that can be carried a number of different ways.

Icarus Maeser Debuts US-Made Line
Just three months on the market and Icarus Maeser is making headway with its range of Los Angeles-made oxfords for men and women. The line of 100 percent leather sole shoes offers throwback designs that stretch from casual, like its men’s denim and caramel leather cap-toe oxford, to quirky, with polka dot prints for women. According to chief designer Talen Barney, the line’s Jazz Age metallic gold oxford in buttery soft leather is a runaway hit.

William Rast Enters the Footwear Market
The eight-year-old denim and leather apparel line founded by Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala is cracking into men’s and women’s footwear with a debut range of moto-inspired boots, sneakers and heels, which vice president of strategic business development Gina Lainas said falls perfectly in line with the market’s demand for Americana design. Highlights in the collection include women’s biker chic boots accented with grommets, fringe and zipper details, and men’s boots with bold shark tooth creeper outsoles. The line also plays with color, with men’s two-tone boots and pops of blue and terra cotta bottoms on classic lace-ups for men.
