Newness from footwear brands at FFANY (Nov. 30-Dec. 2) came in the form of light up boots, premium collections and new tag lines for Fall ’17. Here’s a look at some of the new trends, product lines and collaborations footwear brands debuted during the show.
Loudmouth debuted its first line of footwear for men, women and children at FFANY. The brand, which got its footing in 2000 when it launched as a quirky golf apparel brand, is known for its proprietary prints designed by founder and graphic designer Scott Woody Woodsworth. Footwear styles span athleisure-inspired sneakers and loafers to slides, espadrilles and rain boots. Memorable prints include multi-color paint splatter, retro flowers and flames to patriotic prints of The Declaration of Independence.
Emu Australia introduced a Fall ’17 collaboration with Australian artist Zachary Bennett-Brook. Known for adapting his indigenous-inspired artwork for surfboards, Bennett-Brook reinterpreted his dot designs for Emu Australia’s core sheepskin boots with a warm color palette of orange, yellow and pink. The brand also unveiled a limited-edition collection of boots trimmed with byproduct kangaroo fur and emu skin.
Cat rolled out a new brand statement: “We power the bold.” Through the new message, Cat aims to reinforce its place as a fashion footwear brand for edgy and gutsy consumers. Beginning with Fall ’17, the brand will also update its hashtag campaign from #MakeAScene to #GoBoldly, which will be carried throughout its promotional material and social media endeavors.
Rockport is taking things up a notch with Total Motion Luxe, a premium take on its popular Total Motion collection intended for limited distribution. The women’s collection is distinguished by leather lined footbeds accented with a pop of bronze leather. Highlights include suede pumps with a chunky heel, round-toe Mary Janes and patent pumps with an ombre effect.
Western Chief is adding brightness to a rainy day with a new line of children’s rain boots. The rubber boots feature LED lighting in translucent waterproof outsoles. The special soles are available on a range of solid color and printed styles for boys and girls.
Goby debuted its vegan footwear collection at FFANY. The Istanbul, Turkey-based brand offers a deep range of footwear—from rain boots and combat boots to espadrilles and heels—emblazoned with digital prints. Approximately 70 percent of the prints are Goby originals, which span skulls and flowers to stained glass and quirky sayings.
