Houghton Receives Caleres Emerging Designer Award

Houghton by Katharine Polk has been awarded the $25,000 Caleres Emerging Designer Award presented by Saint Louis Fashion Fund. The award was presented on the opening night of St. Louis Fashion Week.

Houghton and the four other finalists, Haus Alkire, Eckhaus Latta, Azede Jean-Pierre and NOVIS, presented their Spring 2016 collections to a panel of jurors including Fern Mallis, founder of NYFW, and Tomoko Ogura, senior fashion director at Barneys New York.

Houghton debuted at Lincoln Center in February 2012, and, in October 2012, created Houghton Bride. Polk’s designs merge fine imported fabrics, precise tailoring and timeless silhouettes. Houghton produces both their lines in New York City.

In addition to the prize money, Polk will receive business mentoring from top fashion industry experts and will receive the opportunity to produce one limited edition look from the collection with sales going to benefit the Saint Louis Fashion Fund.
