If there is any doubt that comfort footwear has earned street cred in recent seasons, Anyi Lu’s Fall ’16 line is the confirmation that comfort and fashion can not only meet in the middle, but that they can also truly revel in downtown style.
The brand, which got its start as a work/dress comfort brand in 2005 by chemical engineer Anyi Lu, continues to incorporate comfort features like NASA-developed Poron cushioning and glove-like fits, however, its Fall ’16 designs are decidedly more edgy and dark.
Tumbled calf leather pull-on boots with moto-inspired buckles and suede ankle boots are closet mainstays. Meanwhile, a lug sole lace-up boot is Anyi Lu’s answer to a combat boot, softened with a curved silhouette and stitching details.
Even basics take on a sleek feel with snake-embossed leathers, pointed toes and flats with witchy, elastic crisscross straps. A favorite among style bloggers is the Agnes, a pull-on, elastic oxford with subtle zipper trim that gives the traditional silhouette some bite.
