Wolverine Worldwide, co-hosted an event with its 2015 #Earthmovers Wednesday night in New York City to cast its next ambassador and to preview its Spring ’16 line.
Guests—a mix of editors, stylists and bloggers—had an opportunity to share why they were a #Earthmover in short videos and photographs. The winner, which will be announced later this year, will receive a paid contract from the company for 2016 and shoes for one year.
Cat’s Spring ’16 collection was also on display, including its first-ever range of wedge sandals. The sandals are keeping with the Cat family with chunky wood bases and rugged leather uppers in earth tones. Other warm weather options include fisherman, footbed and fringe-accented sandals — picture perfect styles for festival season.
Spring ankle boots get the cutout treatment. Cutouts and straps replace gussets in a line of distressed ankle booties with stacked heels. A range of ankle boots in black, beige, tan and a dreamy periwinkle are accented with woven leather details up the vamp and a sliver of a cutout on the side. Meanwhile, perforations dot Cat’s line of sugary sweet pastel lace-up ankle boot. The group also include brogues, cutout oxfords and zip-up ankle boots. Pastel blue also makes an appearance in the men’s range on monk strap boots and oxfords.
Cat plays with prints for spring, adding multi-color tribal textiles to festival booties and introducing bold florals to its iconic Colorado work boot. The sturdy boot is a contrast of feminine and masculine dressed up with crack and peel floral print and a translucent outsole.
The brand taps into athleisure with a Harajuku twist, including black and white polka dot sport-inspired sandals. The spotted theme carries into boots with a memorable women’s Colorado boot swathed with metallic black and gold polka dots and topped off with a rhinestone brooch threaded through the laces.
