Keen Launches “Keen Effect” Giveback Program

Outdoor brand Keen unveiled its second year of the Keen Effect program to support non-profits globally. For 2015, the KEEN Effect II will award 10 grants to non-profits that share the brand’s dedication to building stronger communities and a healthier planet.

The Keen Effect encourages Keen fans and the general public to nominate non-profit organizations that align with the brand’s focus on the outdoors. In 2014, the program awarded $100,000 in grants to 25 non-profits in 16 states in the U.S., and seven countries around the world, engaging more than 23,500 people in outdoor recreation.

Following last year’s success, Keen aims to engage with even more people who share a love of the outdoors. Applications for nominations are currently being accepted on KeenEffect.com. The final round of winners will be announced on National Public Lands Day, Sept. 26, 2015.

Keen brand and community coordinator Kirsten Blackburn said, “The Keen Effect offers us an exciting opportunity to engage with our fans, learn about organizations and projects they are passionate about, and then support some of the groups in their backyards.” She added, “Through the Keen Effect, our eyes are opened to hundreds of incredible organizations around the world who are inspiring responsible outdoor participation and we are thrilled at the opportunity to help inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.”
