Keen Utility is getting its own digs in Portland, Ore. The safety footwear brand opened a 4,500-square-foot building located in Portland’s Pearl District within walking distance of the Keen global headquarters and just a bike ride away from its factory.
The new office will become the home base for Keen Utility’s expanding team of sales, marketing and customer service representatives. The building’s design aesthetic reflects Keen’s dedication to “repurposing with a purpose.” The space features a unique floor made from OSV exterior plywood and a custom conference table using scrap iron I-Beams and reclaimed wood. Recycled touches including screwdriver knobs and a vintage concrete trowel door handle pay homage to the industries Keen Utility supports.
Keen Utility also announced the launch of a Utility-dedicated warehouse and shipping hub in Louisville, Ky. The center, which became fully operational on November 30, was designed to better meet the “at once” business demands of the brand’s footwear partners.
“What Keen Utility has accomplished in such a short time is nothing short of phenomenal. We view this category as a growth engine for our brand, helping to bring our innovative footwear and unique brand to new customers everywhere,” said Steve Meineke, Keen president.
He added, “Investing in an office space with room to grow and a shipping hub with solutions-based strategies helps us better serve our retail partners and fortify a foundation to take Keen Utility to the next level. These changes solidify our commitment to providing the best fit and protection to America’s hardworking men and women.”
